«Vánitas DANA Valencia»

On October 29, 2024, a DANA (Isolated Upper-Level Depression) dumped torrential rains on eastern Spain, causing rivers and ravines to burst their banks and flooding, causing particularly devastating flooding in the province of Valencia. The consequences were tragic, and the impact was profoundly human.

I created the #artistasconvalencia initiative , which encouraged artists from around the world to raffle off works, with the money raised from ticket sales going entirely to compensate the victims.

I myself painted a large-format piece entitled “Vánitas DANA Valencia” , a work full of symbolism and hope: oranges as a Mediterranean emblem, a vertical composition that suggests overcoming and rebirth, and a bat as a tribute to the city of Valencia.

The drawing was held on November 25, 2024 , and the winner was Ángeles Centeno , from Barcelona. She was so excited that when she received the artwork, she even made renovations to her home to install it.

Thank you so much, Ángeles, for the special space you've dedicated to this painting. Also, thank you to all the raffle participants. Thanks to you, a significant sum of money has been donated to the "A Childhood Without Mud" project run by FAMPA-València and the Gonzalo Anaya Confederation , which strives to guarantee a dignified, safe, and educational environment for children affected by ALD.

Thank you so much!
