Collection: Religious whims

Eight drawings. Eight stories. Eight ways of looking at faith, pain, and hope through different eyes.

Antonio García Villarán launches 'Religious Caprichos' , a unique collection of drawings made in 1999 , which will be available for general sale on February 14, 2025 .

Each work, measuring 23 x 16 cm , explores religious imagery from the contemporary sensibility that defines the artist. Through techniques such as walnut, ink, Conté pencil, watercolors, and graphite , Antonio invites us to rediscover iconic figures such as the Crucified Christ, the Pietà, and the Fallen Angel, imbuing them with a new emotional charge.

There are gazes that are never forgotten. Like that of María Santísima de la Amargura , whose tears seem to slide off the paper. Or the expression of the Virgin in the Mutilated Pietà , which speaks wordlessly of the weight of absence. There is also the harshness of the Disappeared Christ of Saint Augustine , whose torn features reflect the fragility of faith.

This collection isn't just art. It's an invitation to look within yourself. To connect with your own spiritual history, to rethink it, to question it.
