“Crunchy Surprise” is an expressive portrait of my favourite muse, Hugaceo Crujiente. Here I have tried to express the surprise, the joy, the show, the transformation and the amazement that can be produced in the spectator by the surprise of coming across a Drag Queen. Flowers grow from her neck and her head rests on a lace ruff. Everything in this work is pure energy.Sometimes it reminds me of circus artists or medieval jesters, but this face shows something more; an attitude towards life, a way of understanding the world, a way of celebrating happiness.
